For the first 21 years of my life, I lived in Stanwell Park, a small town etched right into the northern most corner of the Illawarra escarpment.

Running around and exploring the local bushland as a kid are some of my most vivid childhood memories. Those childhood adventures never really subsided, rather, they fueled an existing sense of curiosity to see and learn more about the incredibly unique country I am privileged enough to call home. After spending the last 6 or so years delving deep into the gorgeous landscapes that make up Dharawal country, through both walks with some of the most knowledgeable people in their fields, and listening to country, I have gained an invaluable appreciation for the natural world and all of its intricacies.

The Illawarra escarpment ( Merrigong- Dharawal) is where the majority of my images are taken. An incredibly biodiverse landscape, it’s the sandstone country above its towering cliffs that I feel most drawn to. I spend countless hours, sometimes days, idling through forests of giant Sydney Redgums, in search of whatever, or whoever, is in season at the time. I have a particular fascination with how connected all elements of the natural world are, from the trees, to the birds which use their hollows for nesting, plants, fungi and everything in between.

The conservation of what’s left of our natural areas is incredibly important to me, and I hope to raise awareness within community, with the aim of encouraging people to observe, or playfully interact with nature.
